rokh×GU Designer’s interview

- This is your second season of rokh×GU collection. Could you tell us about the concept of the collaboration between rokh × GU?

The collaboration between Rokh and GU is founded on a shared vision of rendering sophisticated clothing accessible to a broad audience. Our objective is to create garments that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also practical for everyday wear. The "Play in Style" initiative, which is the core concept of our collaboration, encapsulates our aspiration to empower individuals to express their unique style with an element of joy and freedom, whilst ensuring comfort and affordability remain paramount.

- Tell us about the theme of 225SS.

The theme for the 225SS collection draws inspiration from British Gardening, featuring vibrant floral patterns complemented by heritage patterns in fluid dresses, socks, and hats. Each piece evokes a whimsical, pastoral aesthetic, perfectly suited for the joys of summer. The collection has been thoughtfully designed to encourage versatility, allowing for effortless mix-and-match combinations that invite personal expression and creativity.

- Is there anything different from the last time or have you updated it?

This season, our emphasis has been on enhancing wearability while preserving the distinctive Rokh aesthetic. Through close collaboration with the GU team, we have introduced inclusive, gender-neutral options, including our inaugural men’s items, marking a significant evolution that broadens the appeal of our collection.

- What do you think about your first men's item?

Although it is categorised as a “men’s item,” I perceive it as inherently genderless, reflecting contemporary fashion sensibilities. It has been crafted to be inclusive, enabling any individual to wear it, irrespective of gender. This approach is a celebration of individuality and personal expression.

- Do you have a favorite item in this collection?

My favorite look in this collection features a heritage pattern dress complemented by matching socks and a garden hat, paired with a stylish trench cape that can easily be transformed into a jacket with a button detail. This versatility allows for multiple styling options, making the trench cape not only a statement piece but also a practical addition to one’s summer wardrobe. Together, these elements encapsulate the playful yet sophisticated essence of the British Gardening aesthetic, perfect for embracing the joys of the season.

- In the process of developing the collection with GU, what was the most memorable thing about it?

One of the most memorable aspects of developing this collection in partnership with GU has been the collaborative spirit that permeated our discussions. The exchange of ideas between our teams ignited innovative concepts, resulting in designs that resonate meaningfully with our customers. We look forward to seeing more customers enjoying the collection and embracing the "Play in Style" philosophy, fostering a sense of joy and creativity in their everyday wardrobes.

- Finally, do you have a message for customers who are looking forward to the collection?

We have dedicated ourselves wholeheartedly to this collaboration, and I sincerely hope that each piece inspires the customers to harmonise play and comfort in their daily lives. I look forward to seeing how everyone expresses themselves through Rokh × GU!
